I really enjoyed using the wire mesh for the earring holder and wondered what else I could do with it.

A friend had suggested using alcohol inks to colour it, so I started experimenting.

Here is what I came up with:

Altered Frame

Have you ever had one of those days when you have an idea, you think will be lovely and it turns out to be utter rubbish?
I've had one of those weeks, it wasn't helped by the fact I felt awful and couldn't stop coughing.
It's DT upload for me again on Fiskarettes and this is what I came up with: (after chucking one project in the bin)

You could use it as a photoframe as well. The mesh I bought from a Motor Spares shop, it's aluminium and cheap. It's for using as base to fill holes in car body work. You can buy wire mesh from craft shops but it's more expensive.
Instructions are HERE
Don't forget to enter the COMPETITION over on Fiskarettes, you still have time and there are great prizes to be won:)

Shrink Plastic

This week I decided to use shrink plastic for my DT project on Fiskarettes.

I love working with it.

The instructions are HERE

The only slight problem I had was the pens running on the sanded side. Iused my Zig Dottariffic, they are great fun and so juicy.

While you're over on the Fiskarettes blog do check out the latest COMPETITION
There are some great prizes to win.

Have a great weekend.

My first tiara

I've had a great day today. I should have been catching up on the house work but my friend Jayne offered to teach me how to make a tiara.

Here's my first attempt, well it was the second really as I managed to break the wire on the flower the first time!

Handbag Charm

Today was an exciting day for me, my first ever DT project was published. I made this handbag charm. They are really easy to make, instructions are HERE

They don't cost a lot as you can use broken jewelery and leftover beads from other projects.

For findings, beads and advice try G.J. Beads. They are my favourite bead suppliers and have a huge range of beads to choose from.

Fiskarettes

A while ago Fiskarettes put out a call for a DT for 3 months. I decided to bite the bullet and applied. I was lucky enough to be chosen and have a box of tools on their way to me. I just love Fiskars tools, the scissors they produce are the best.
It's a great Blog to dip into, there's lots of inspiration and each month there's a competition with Fiskars tools as a prize.

Capture The Magic

Life has been really busy recently.
Half-term week we rented a cottage on the Norfolk Coast, it was a lovely relaxing break. Plenty of long walks on the beach and lots of photo opportunities. We visited the seals on Scroby Sands, one was playing in the wake of the boat.
On the way back we called in at Capture The Magic, it is an absolute Aladdins Cave for Scrapbookers and card makers. An hour had passed so quickly, there was a demonstration of the new Zig Dotta-Riffic pens, I just had to have some, well they were on special offer. My doodles are going to look much better now. If you're in the area, do call in, everywhere you turn there is something new to see. The staff are really friendly and helpful and you can browse as long as you like.

Melt Pot Fun

I had a Melt Pot for my Birthday and yesterday morning a friend and I got together to play and try out some techniques. There is so much you can do with it.

Here are some of the things we made

The bracket is an attempt at 2 tone dipping but didn't quite work as I'd hoped.
The heart and star were cut using tiny biscuit cutters and then dusted with pearl powders once they'd cooled.
I'm looking forward to playing some more.

Floral Card

I have lots of stash that I've bought and can't possibly use as it's too nice. Were's the sense in that? So this year I've decided to use what I've got. Over on HSS lots of people have been using the coredinations cardstock. I love the effects you can get. On this card the purple and green are coredinations. It was so easy to get a vein effect on the leaves and paler edges. I used my Fiskars shape boss (another thing that's been stuck in a cupboard) to emboss the floral oval and then added some silk flowers, a button and some bling. The bling was cut from a word I got in a bargain pack, it said Hot stuff, which isn't a title I would use. Cutting it up gave me oodles of tiny gems. The background card is actually pale lemon pearlescent, but it didn't photograph very well.

Tear Drop Necklace

There really is nothing like feeling beads moving under your fingers. I have made several of these necklaces in a rainbow of colours to match outfits for my daughter.

The seed beads are matte black, I love the contrast between the matte and shiney crystal. The beads came from GJBEADS , my favourite bead supplier and shop. If you're ever in Cornwall do go and visit the shop at St Ives or St Erth. Gill also runs workshops, at the St Erth Shop, on Thursdays, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. You can do both if you like. They're great, you get an instruction sheet and choose your own colours of beads, last summer it was £5 and the cost of the beads you choose. Gill has loads of patience even if you keep making the same mistake:)

There is a cafe near the shop and a surf shop so something for the non-beaders in your life to do too. I shall be going again when we're next in Cornwall.
